Firework is a stunning captive bred mare that we purchased from her breeder when we were first building or breeding string. Through no fault of her own, she was never trained to ride but she was ground work trained so we were able to see her personality before purchasing. In the pasture Firework is lead mare and she runs her herd like a slightly strict but loving aunt. She keeps the other mares in line and makes sure they stay safe. Firework absolutely loves any and all foals and she can often be seen being the herd "babysitter" for the other mares so they can eat or sleep in peace. This little mare may be small but in the pasture she demands respect and in return keeps her little family safe and happy. In hand she is a pretty willing mare and is happy to work with you but she doesn't suffer fools in humans any better than she does in horses. She needs an experienced handler who knows what they are doing and will guide instead of force her. With the right experienced handler Firework blooms into an incredibly willing and intelligent mare that picks up new things faster than we can teach them sometimes. We were able to teach her basic riding skills within the first few weeks of having her just to see how she handled being under saddle and what her gaits were like. She was absolutely excellent under saddle and I do sometimes wish we had gotten her at a younger age so we could potentially compete her under saddle. That's not to say I am not happy to have this gorgeous mare in the breeding herd because I am. Not only does she have a fantastic personality but she has an absolutely amazing build and some fantastic gaits as well. She's got a fantastic, solid, Spanish influenced build that leads us to believe that she will produce fantastic solidly built and athletic foals. Her gaits are something else and even while just watching her move from the ground you could tell she had fantasticly smooth gaits and at times even seemed to show and inclination to being gaited. Firework is a fantastic little mare that has a lot of potential to be a great asset to our breeding program.
