We purchased Peter after only seeing photos, videos, pedigree, and a description of his personality. What we learned in those few things made us extremely interested in him and once we brought him to Round Table we saw exactly what we expected. Like his registered name suggests, Peter is a fun loving, silly, and energetic dog who absolutely adores people and loves being by as many people as he possibly can. From day one we could see that Peter would be happy living at RTS but he would thrive even better in a house off property where he could have all the attention and just come to RTS for the day. With that realization we matched Peter with one of our handlers who was looking for a dog to keep her company in her apartment and that would be able to come to work with her. Our assumption about Peter was correct because the moment he settled into the apartment with our handler we could see that he was even happier than he was living at RTS. When Peter comes to work with our handler he happily hangs out with her while she does chores and preps to train and then he goes into the office or break room to hang out with whoever is there while she trains other dogs. Peter is incredibly intelligent and because he is so friendly the children have taken to teaching him tricks like "dance", "bow", "shake", and even things to help cleanup. One of our favorite things they taught him is "find" and "retrieve" because sometimes we will forget to grab a needed piece of equipment or someone will lose something and you just have to send Peter for it and he will bring it to you. Out of work Peter is goofy and fun and it can be a bit of work to get him to focus on his job but when he does he does his job like everything else, really fast and with a ton of excitement. When he started going on real life hunts with us we had to work really hard on "settle" and "quiet" commands because he'd get so excited that he'd yip and bounce. Once those commands were settled though the excellent bird dog we knew he had the potential to be really started to emerge. His send out is near flawless and his retrieve is light and quick, he has never brought back a damaged bird. Though Peter loves hunting and he is excellent at it he really shines in Agility because he can let his inner speed demon out and he absolutely flies. Peter is a fantastic dog just to have around and he's a great competitor but since we purchased him as a potential breeding dog he needed to have the build, movement, and pedigree to back him up. Luckily it's obvious from just looking at him that Peter is drop dead gorgeous. He's a little more solidly built than the typical Standard Poodle but he's not overly large or clunky. He is smooth and balanced in his build which allows him to have a strong gait that powers forward from the back and into a beautiful springy and effortless gait. Everything that Peter has going for him isn't really surprising when you take a look at his pedigree. Both his parents are the definition of dual purpose with titles on both ends of their name. Peter has a lot of potential as a competition dog, hunting partner, and breeding dog in the future.
